I was visiting an extraordinary show in Tucson a few months ago called the "Street of Dreams". It is a new development of houses in Stone Canyon, a residential golf community out in Oro Valley.

The houses were the epitome of what you would hope to find in modern homes. One general theme I noticed was the abundance of modern art and furniture, particularly contemporary home office furniture.

A new and modern home really can't be complete without a home office and/or library. For those stuck in the past, they might choose to furnish their offices with boring stuff. Floral drapes, Oriental carpets, and dark wood and upholstery: yuck.

Emphasizing Contemporary Home Office Furniture

Contemporary home office furniture is a must if you want both style and function in your home. You spend a lot of time in your office, why add to the stress by making the room unpleasant to be in?

Contemporary furniture comes in a pretty large variety of materials, but glass and dark wood combinations are some of my personal favorites.

Accent with live plants to emphasize your desire for the natural world. Dark colored woods with vivid green plants pops with taste and color.

Contemporary office furniture includes more than just your desk. Awesome chairs, cabinets, bookshelves, and end tables are also available. If you don't get your furniture from the same set, try to at least find pieces that are complimentary to each other.

The right lighting is essential in highlighting your office furniture, but is also necessary for emphasizing your artwork. Be careful, though: at the end of the day, you want to be able to see your keyboard and read your memos.
